MY SUNDAY NIGHT

SOMEONE GIVE ME A JOB

Let’s cut to the chase: I’ve been living in New York for one week and I don’t have a job nor do I don’t have a place of my own. But that’s ok. It’s really not that bad. I have some money in the bank that I’d rather stayed in the bank, but that’s what it’s for. The most frustrating part of my day-to-day is the lack of structure. Sure I want a job because I need the money, but I also need something to do during the day. I spent 5 hours on Craig’s List this morning applying for everything. I’ve also looked into becoming a personal trainer. AND I’m still developing my design business. Maybe not having a job is actually a good thing. It gives me time to expand my horizons. No. It’s bad. It’s very very very bad. I need money.

But I’m here in New York! You know, it really is everything it’s cracked up to be. I’ve only been here for a week, but I already feel like anything is possible here. It’s just a matter of how hard you’re willing to work.

Hey, remember ZFX? I’m going back in June for another workshop. This time it’ll focus on fight choreography.

FIRST NIGHT IN THE BIG APPLE

I just moved to New York City. I’m sitting on the bed in the room I’m sub-leasing for the month. I need a place of my own. I need a job. I need health insurance.

I am scared. I am excited. I am exhausted.

I am here.

I’M MOVING TO NEW YORK

at last. this move has been four (count ‘em: four) yeas in the making. and today it’s finally happening. the moving truck is packed, the cars are loaded, and we’re off!

i’ll update twitter along the way and i’ll post photos on twitpics and facebook so you can follow along on the journey. i’ll also shoot some fun video and post that as soon as i can.

ZFX FLYING

last week the apprentices went to the zfx studio to learn the in’s and out’s of staged flying and operation. this was something we had been looking forward to all year. the pulling was a lot of hard work, the harnesses were uncomfortable, and many of us still have our bruises, but the experience was well worth it. check out this great video that philip allgeier put together. we’re flying!

NEW VOICES

tonight was the closing of the two day run of new voices, a mini festival of sorts in which local students wrote 10-minute plays and competed for a spot in the show. in two short weeks the best plays were fully produced by actors theatre and performed by the apprentice company. mad props to annabel and patrick, my playwrights. you guys did a wonderful job and should be proud of yourselves. it was a pleasure working with you. keep writing!
